I spoke briefly to a reporter from the San Antonio Express News just before christmas and was delighted to notice the lack of money questions. The focus was on “who’s videoblogging”, “why are they doing it”, etc. It was refreshing.
“In fact, there are 3,560 vlogs containing more than 130,000 videos on the Internet, according to Mefeedia.com, a New York-based vlog directory, which started out as a hobby a year ago.
‘Ideally we just wanted to build a tool to make video easier to find,’ said Devlon Duthie, a software developer with Mefeedia.com.”
That’s what Mefeedia is all about.

Connectivity and a common architecture is what may keep the big boys from blotching out the vlogsphere. Connectivity like Blip feeds getting auto-posted (pinged) to Mefeedia
Here are a couple of exciting things about this:
-The website link that is displayed in the feed areas of Mefeedia points to the blip vlog that the feed originated from.
-Comments link on the Mefeedia Watch page takes you to the feed’s post page on Blip.
Since Blip can cross-post to the Internet Archive and now with the ping to Mefeedia, you can get your get your video posted and listed in a few steps.
1885 feeds currently available at Mefeedia…check ‘em out!

TipMonkies » Blog Archive » Find free video podcasts with Mefeedia: “Mefeedia is an awesome service I heard about on Rocketboom which is very similar to RSS aggregators like Bloglines and Rojo but targetting the emerging market of video podcasts (or videocasts, or vlogs, or whatever you want to call them). In this way, it is similar to my favorite podcatcher/podcast directory, Odeo. Unlike other videocast aggregators, there is no need to download videos as they are streamed right from the browser. I currently subscribe to about 10 different video podcasts so I have a few gigs worth of video just from that, so it’s nice to finally just be able to stream content. The interface could use a little work as it’s not as clean and intuitive as Odeo but there is lots of great content, and you can tag videos, send them to friends, and do a few other cool things.”

Mefeedia.com, the first video aggregator, will launch new features on Wednesday November 9th that make it very easy to fill your video iPod or PSP with independent video.
Mefeedia works seamlessly with Apple’s iTunes and Sony’s PSP Media Manager Software – you subscribe to your personal queue of videos, and whenever a videoblogger that you are subscribed to publishes a new video, it is automatically sent to your computer. You can also browse over 80,000 videos already in the archive and add them to your video queue with one click.

Rodrigo A. Sepúlveda Schulz: “Mefeedia should become your online video aggregator, as odeo is your audio aggregator, and bloglines is your text aggregator.”
And from TechCrunch:
“…Mefeedia…is getting rave reviews about his video aggregator.”
We usually don’t see a spike in traffic after being mentioned in print publications (like the New York Times), but we did see a spike after being mentioned in Businessweek. :)
